Contemporary witnesses

The eyewitnesses experienced the blockade of Berlin by the Soviet army and the subsequent Operation Airlift. They experienced first-hand the difficult conditions of the blockade and the food and supply crisis in Berlin. Many of them observed the planes flying day and night to the western sector of the city to supply the population with food and goods. They remember the tension and fear that prevailed during the blockade, as well as the solidarity and cohesion of the population.
